Things to do in Dorset This Autumn

Now that summer is behind us it’s time to look forward to everything that Dorset has to offer this autumn. Dorset is a popular place for people who want to relocate for a better quality of life, and it’s easy to see why. There is something for everyone here, and this autumn has lots of events and festivals.

To give you a helping hand, Woods Removals has put together our suggestions for residents and visitors for this autumn.

Wood’s Tips for this Autumn in Dorset –

Oktoberfest – if you’re a fan of real ales and other award-winning drinks then head over to Weymouth on the 6th and 7th of October for the annual Oktoberfest. With seventy beers and twelve ciders to choose from, there’s you’ll find something for every pallet. Oktoberfest is always a great day out, and you won’t want to miss it, so book your tickets early.

Swanage Blues Festival – from the 5th to the 8th of October, the blues are coming to town. The Swanage Blues Festival is a bi-annual event that hosts over one hundred musicians in fifteen different venues in Swanage. The cost of a wristband is just ten pounds, and you’ll have an array of great music and lots of food and drinks available.

Purbeck Film Festival – warning to cinephiles in Dorset! Don’t miss the Purbeck Film Festival, which is on from the 13th to the 29th of October. This festival is the longest running rural event of its kind and over five-thousand people attend each year. It’s more than just a visit to the cinema. There are special guest speakers, in-depth notes for every screening and Q&A sessions.

Dorchester Literary Festival (shown in photo) – the annual Dorchester Literary Festival celebrates established and new writers, all based in one of England’s most influential areas for literary greats, like Thomas Hardy. The festival’s patron Tracy Chevalier is one of the headliners for this event, and it’s a must for residents and visitors alike. Plus, it’s right on Woods’ doorstep.

Something for Everyone –

There are many other events to enjoy this autumn in Dorset. A few online searches and you’ll find something for your tastes. Dorset caters for all tastes and is known as one of the UK’s most beautiful places to visit. Dorset’s towns and villages often rank in the best places to live lists, and our residents enjoy a better quality of life than most.

People relocate here for many reasons, quite a lot of people move from busier cities like London to escape the hustle and bustle of city life. Dorset has excellent transport links that to London and other major cities, so it’s feasible to commute to work.

The quality of life in Dorchester is something that attracts a lot of people to Dorchester. The clean sea air, the relaxed pace, the beautiful beaches and great restaurants all add up to better living. We get more sun than most places, approximately three-hundred and sixty more hours than the national average. For beachgoers, we suggest Cogden Beach but you can also take in the scenery of West Wexington Beach. Additionally, Abbotsbury Beach is a popular location for fishing.
